One Minute to Happiness New Haven CT

British psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman helps to boost your happiness through simple one-minute exercises. As with many of the large-scale experiments designed by England’s Professor in the Public Understanding of Psychology, the world will participate and Wiseman will study the results.

One Minute to Happiness

one minute to happiness

This week The Mothers Well is sending you to British psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman to boost your happiness through simple one-minute exercises. As with many of the large-scale experiments designed by England’s Professor in the Public Understanding of Psychology, the world will participate and Wiseman will study the results. Join now at www.scienceofhappiness.co.uk .

Wiseman’s new book 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot, is anything but self-help drivel. He puts science behind his claims, and spends much time exposing the myths of the self-help industry. And the simplicity of his suggestions is heartening. Check out the 10 “scientifically proven” tips to a happier life posted on his blog, 59seconds.wordpress.com :

1. Meet up with a friend that you haven’t seen for a while.
2. Watch a funny television program or film.
3. Exercise for about 30 minutes three times a week.
4. Cut your television viewing by half.
5. Distract yourself with a book (personally, I would recommend 59 Seconds!)
6. Create novel challenges by starting a new hobby, joining an organization, or learning a new skill.
7. Go for a 20 minute walk in the sun.
8. Spend 10 minutes listening to relaxing or uplifting music.
9. Pet a dog.
10. Don’t listen to the news.

It does seem that #2, watch a funny television show, is negated soon thereafter with #4, cut your television viewing by half.
