Fitness expert Eric Grindler offers unconventional tips to get active. Eric Grindler, a.k.a. Activator Eric from TheActivators.net and co-owner of the Encino, CA, My Gym Children’s Fitness Center , has some fun tips for parents on how to get kids moving without realizing they’re exercising!
1. Kids generally love animals! Ask your child to name a few of their favorite animals and then challenge them to show you their best imitations of them. They’ll have a great time showing off their kangaroo, dog and tiger impressions! 2. Walk whenever possible and, at the same time, make the walks interesting to your child. For example, play the ‘eye spy’ game. Ask your child what his favorite color is and then count how many objects of that color you find on the way! 3. Play grown-up! Get a little stroller and place a doll or teddy bear in it. Your child will have fun pushing the stroller around while pretending to be the adult. 4. Ask the child for help. You’re trying to jump rope and it’s been so long since the last time you did, you forgot how. Your child will not only feel good about being able to assist you, but they’ll also get some exercise while reminding you how to jump robe. 5. Have fun with music! Put on some oldies, but goodies. Teach them Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” or have the kids mime splashing around in water with Bobby Darin’s “Splish Splash.” |

Why is allowance important for kids today? Money makes the world go round and is an integral part of our lives. Teaching our children about money is as important as teaching them to cross the street safely. If they’re not paying attention or slip-up and make a wrong move, there could be serious consequences.
